- From refuge to haven, this atmospheric moated house has been a sanctuary since the 15th century, hiding persecuted Catholics in its three priest holes, and was home to the Ferrers family for 500 years. The peaceful gardens include fish pools, a romatic lake and a walled garden filled with colours for every season - from daffodils in spring to the magnificent dahlia border in the autumn.
