Llancaiach Fawr Manor

Picture of the Manor with a beautiful blue sky

    • The peaceful, rural setting of Llancaiach Fawr Manor gives no clue to the turmoil of its early years nor to the exciting Living History it now portrays. Built in 1530 for Dafydd ap Richard it was designed to be easily defended during the turbulent reigns of Tudor kings and queens. By the start of the Stuart dynasty the Prichards had prospered and the house was extended in 1628 to demonstrate their status. When Civil War broke out between King and Parliament in 1642 Colonel Prichard was actively involved in raising men and money for the Royalist cause in Glamorganshire. Visitors today step into the Manor House restored and furnished as it was in 1645 when King Charles I came to visit and allegiances changed to Parliament. Llancaiach Fawr Manor is genuinely haunted. During the winter months the Ghost Tour season gives visitors the opportunity to experience the atmosphere for themselves as the guides tell you of the many uncanny experiences of staff, visitors and previous residents.
