View of Chesters Roman Fort by the River North Tyne

    • Chesters Roman Fort was built to guard the Roman bridge which carried Hadrian's Wall over the River North Tyne. The entire foundations of the headquarters building are visible and, down by the river, the bath house is extremely well preserved. The newly-refurbished museum displays a collection of Roman finds retrieved by local antiquarian John Clayton.
