Gunpowder Competition Closed

STOP PRESS: Since we wrote this story, the competition has closed. We received about 1200 entries - they were all fantastic so judging is going to be very difficult indeed. We'll let you know who has won in January.

We've already received loads of fantastic entries for our Gunpowder Plot Competition, and we'd love to get loads more, so why not give it a go?

The competition celebrates the launch of the new Gunpowder, Treason & Plot website and marks the 400th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot.

It's for 7-14 year olds and their schools, and the closing date for entries is November 30 2005. Find out how to enter, and what you could win on this page.

To inspire you, here are just a few of the entries sent in by kids at St Christopher's School in Beckenham, Kent. We love them!

Lucy, aged 9, has drawn Guy Fawkes surrounded by barrels of gunpowder.

This 'Wanted' poster, by nine-year old Katharine, lists the names of all the Plotters.

Callum has made his 'Wanted' poster look old by holding it over a candle to create smoky marks and burnt edges.

If you try this, remember that you must ALWAYS have a grown-up to help you.

This has been made to look older with a candle, too - and we think it's also been dipped in cold tea or coffee to make the paper brown.
