Show Me...Brighton And Hove Picture Postcards

November 16 2004

If you've been out and about in museums and galleries around Brighton and Hove lately, you might have seen Show Me postcards like the one below.

Shows the front of the Show Me postcard - which has a design of brightly-coloured blobs which have children's drawings inside them, including a cat's head, a mummy, a dinosaur and Medusa.

If you see one of these in a museum or gallery, please pick it up, draw a picture on it, and pop it in a postbox. You don't even need a stamp.

The back of the postcards look like this, all ready for your wonderful artwork!

Shows the back of the Show Me postcard, which has a space for drawing the lefthand side and the address on the right.

We've been sent so many postcards, we've created two more pages full of pictures. Scroll to the bottom of the page for links to these.

This is a picture of a sofa, believe it or not! You can see the real thing at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. The lovely drawing is by Maya, aged 5.

Child's drawing in crayon of a chair in the shape of a baseball glove.

Child's drawing in felt pen of a doll's house.

Poppy, aged 6, drew this doll's house, complete with tiny rooms! She saw a house like this in Hove Museum and Art Gallery.

Here's another doll's house, this time by 6 year-old Pheobe, who saw one at Brighton Toy and Model Museum.

Child's drawing of a house and a washing line hung with clothes.

Child's drawing of a two sailboats.

Here's another picture of an exhibit from the Toy and Model Museum. We think this one was by Liam, who is 5 years old.
(Hope we got your name right - it was written in tiny teeny writing!)

This bright pink castle pic was sent in by Elliot, who is 6. He saw the castle at the Toy and Model Museum too.

Child's drawing of a pink castle.

Child's drawing of three children sitting on the floor listening to an adult tell a story.

We really love this drawing of a story teller, with a group of happy children listening carefully to the story.

The names on this one and the one below were a litle hard to read, so sorry if they are yours! Please ask a grown-up to help you send in your names.

This drawing shows an old-fashioned spinning top, another of the objects from the Toy Museum.

Child's drawing of a spinning top, in red and blue.

Child's drawing of a two people in a grassy field, with the sun shining.

5 year-old Lewis drew this picture. He called it 'Indian and Cowboy'. It looks as if they're playing a lovely game Lewis!

We were sent so many pictures drawn by children who visited Brighton's Toy and Model Museum that we've split them up into sets and put them onto their own special pages.

You can see pictures of trains, planes and anything else with wheels on this page.

See pictures of teddies, dolls and puppets on this page.

Thank you so much everyone who sent in their pictures, we think they look fantastic!

If you're out and about in Brighton or any other of our ten City Guide cities, remember to keep an eye out for the postcards!

To find out which ten cities have their own city guides for kids, visit our Places To Go page.
