Show Me... Leicester Picture Postcards

April 26 2005

If you've been out and about in Leicester museums and galleries lately, you might have seen Show Me postcards like the one below.

Shows the front of the Show Me postcard - which has a design of brightly-coloured blobs which have children's drawings inside them, including a cat's head, a mummy, a dinosaur and Medusa.

If you see one of these in a museum or gallery, please pick it up, draw a picture on the back, and pop it in a postbox. You don't even need a stamp.

The back of the postcards looks like this, all ready for your wonderful artwork!

Shows the back of the Show Me postcard, which has a space for drawing the lefthand side and the address on the right.

Child's drawing in felt pens - abstract shapes and colours.

These colours are gorgeous - a big thank you to Hannah for sending it in! Hannah is five and visited the City Gallery in Leicester.

Five-year-old Chelsea drew this great picture of a bird for us, after visiting what she called 'Leicester Museum' - did you mean the New Walk Museum perhaps Chelsea?

Shows a child's drawing, in black on white, of a bird.

Shows a doodled drawing of a dinosaur's skeleton in black on white.

This fantastic dinosaur dropped into the office on a postcard from the City Gallery, and was drawn by Andrew Jackson who tells us he's fifty-seven!

We especially like the squiggly spine Andrew, many thanks for your card.

Holly, who's ten, visited the New Walk Museum.

It's got her thinking about science, and she sent in this pic of a DNA helix. Thanks Holly!

Shows a child's drawing in colourful felt tip pens, of a DNA helix with the words DNA Puzzles.

Shows a child's drawing in black and brown pencils, of a cupboard, with the words 'I liked the potty cupboard'.

Millie Hubbard, aged six, has been to Belgrave Hall Museum. She liked the look of 'the potty cupboard' - we do too Millie!

Three year-old Asha sent us this fantastic drawing of a dinosaur after visiting New Walk Museum. Thanks Asha, we love it!

A child's drawing of a dinosaur - in pencil, coloured with stripes of wax crayon.

We love getting your postcards, and they make the museum staff very happy too, so thank you and keep them coming!
