Show Me Surfers: Gardeners, Explorers And Wizards?

September 20 2006

It's autumn, and we've had more messages from Show Me surfers than there are leaves falling from the trees - just how we like it!

Sacha is in a spellbinding mood:

"this is a spell i call home protection:

guard this treshold
guard this door
so that (that persons name)
can pass no more"

If you enjoy reading about magical adventures, go on Show Me's Young Wizard's Trail.

Fabi says:

"CAN U TEL ME SIX FACTS ABOUT TUDOR GARDENS..I CANT FIND ANYTHING AT ALL ON MY PC."

Fabi - try the Design A Knot Garden game from the Geffrye Museum - or have a go at Knotty Gardening yourself (secret ingredient: a packet of cress seeds!)

JoJo has a deadline:

"Hi do u know where to find out about the Explorers of The Tudor Times ??? Im really stuck and i need it for my homework tomorrow please could you reply as soon as possible !! Thanks for your time !!!"

Oh dear - we're really sorry we couldn't answer in time for your homework! You can find out loads about the Tudors on Show Me's Tudors topic page, where there are lots of games and things to make.

Let salty sea rats Sir Water Rowdant and Bilge guide you through the dangerous and exciting world of Tudor Exploration, a great game from the National Maritime Museum.

Find out why explorers made difficult journeys to unknown places and learn how disgusting was it on board a Tudor ship.

Jessica wonders:

"what is was like in the roman times?"

You can find out all kinds of things about life in Roman times on Show Me's Romans topic page, where you can find

For a list of some of the museums which have Roman artefacts on display, read our news story Burnt Body Found In Roman Oven – Was It Murder?

Greg thinks he may have found something interesting:

"I found a bit of flint on my patio It's about the size of a fingernail and looks like It's been knapped I think It was dropped by a bird where there flints used that small?"

You can find out more about identifying your finds by contacting the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) - check out PASt Explorers for more info.

Someone writes in to say:

"I like this site, but I want you to make more games!"

Don't worry - we're ALWAYS on the lookout for new games from UK museums and galleries to keep you entertained.

Keep checking our Games and Fun page for the latest.

Some of you have had trouble getting our games to open.

This might be because sometimes, on school websites, games don't come up because of something called a firewall - and it's not because they don't work, so tell a teacher.

Also, do check that you have the latest version of Flash.

Last but not least, a big HELLO from Show Me to Alex, Chris, Shannon, Rob and Joshua.

Thank you so much to everyone who has written in - we LOVE hearing from you... so Get In Touch!
