Here are some great places to go in Scotland.

All museums or galleries listed here love having young visitors - so get out and about and have fun!

(PS - this list is going to get much longer as there are so many great places to visit - so keep checking.)

What about a trip to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow?

It recently reopened after a huge refit and is now better than ever.

There's loads to see there including a WWII Spitfire fighter plane, plenty of ancient Egyptian artefacts and even Sir Roger the (stuffed) elephant!

Glasgow Science Centre

You won't get told off for touching the exhibits here. There's lots to play with and explore.


Historylinks Museum, Dornoch

This museum has a special room just for kids. Construct a model of Dornoch Cathedral with building blocks or have a go at a puzzle based on the 18 holes of the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Choose some dressing-up clothes or have a photograph taken in the stocks!

There's even a cabinet where local children display their own collections.

The University of Aberdeen Natural History Centre

Here you can find out about and enjoy our amazing living world. Come and meet Erica the tarantula and the gorgeous fire salamanders and handle anything from spiky monkey puzzle leaves to huge skulls, snake skins and whale bones!


Museum of Childhood, Edinburgh

Find out what your gran would have played with when she was little. In fact, why not take her along - she'd love it.

Sensation, Dundee

Ever wanted to try your hand at keyhole surgery, be sneezed out of a nose, or grow old with the aid of computer technology?

The exhibits here are designed to inspire scientists of the future, with zones themed around light, sound, position, touch, heat, taste and smell. If you thought science was boring, think again!


Toy Museum, Glendale, Skye

The train sets will bring back lots of happy memories for dads and grandads.

You'll be itching to play with all of these great toys.

Satrosphere, Aberdeen

There are over 50 interactive exhibits for you to get stuck into at this amazing science centre.

Control your own live tornado, call a mobile phone underwater, or step inside a bubble!


National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh

Some world-famous exhibits here and lots of fun stuff for families, especially the interactive Discovery Zones where you can get hands on with Scotland's history.

Why not dress up in a range of costumes, including a Roman chain mail shirt?

Or how about firing a medieval catapult? You can even listen to music, build a fort and design your own coat of arms!

Almond Valley Heritage Centre, Livingston, Lothian

Animals, tunnels, oily bubbles, tractors, fossils, magic and more ... you won't want to leave.


Gallery Of Modern Art, Glasgow

Paintings and sculptures galore, plus a Saturday Club. Take time out for a trip to GOMA - you'll love it.

Every Saturday between 10am and 1pm, come to the Saturday Art Club. They're designed for children aged 3 to 10 years, and parents too! Find fun ways to explore the art on display with drawing, collage, sculpture making and games.

The Burrell Collection, Glasgow

In amongst a massive collection of art you'll find lots of treasures from Ancient Greece, Rome and Egypt. You'll end up knowing more than your teacher!


The Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh

Why not get arty at one of the Fruitmarket's fun events for kids... sometimes even parents are allowed to join in!
