There are some great places to go on the Isle of Man. All museums or galleries listed here love having young visitors - so get out and about and have fun! (PS - this list is going to get much longer as there are so many great places to visit - so keep checking.)

House of Manannan, Peel
This museum is a Show Me favourite - it smells of stinky kippers!

The Great Laxey Wheel
This enormous water wheel was built in 1854 to pump water from the Glen Mooar part of the Great Laxey lead mines. It's 22 metres in diameter (across) and is the largest surviving wheel of its kind in the world.

Cregneash Folk Village
Here you can find out what life was like in a typical 19th century Manx crofting village. You can see the fields being worked with horse-drawn equipment, thatching of the roofs, dying of wool, spinning, weaving, wood-turning and black-smithing. © Manx National Heritage

Watch out for one of the village's tail-less Manx cats or some of their Loghtan sheep, which have two or even three sets of horns!

The Manx Museum, Douglas
Here you can learn all about 10,000 years of Manx history - everything from prehistoric archaeology and traditional Manx crafts to the famous TT motorbike races! You can also explore the Isle of Man's National Art Gallery. © Manx National Heritage

The Nautical Museum, Castletown
Come and see 18th century armed yacht, the ‘Peggy’, walled up in her boat cellar. In the boathouse over the cellar there are trap doors, secret panels, and architectural jokes, plus a replica stern cabin from a naval warship from the time of Lord Nelson.

There's a reconstruction of a sail-maker’s workshop and a fishing gallery which includes boat models, equipment and photographs showing what life was like for fishermen.

Rushen Abbey, Ballasalla
Find out what life was like for the monks who lived and worked here hundreds of years ago, and about Christianity on the island. Walk through the remains of medieval buildings and see where archaeologists have revealed traces of buildings below ground. © Manx National Heritage

The Grove House and Gardens, near Ramsey
This Victorian house was the holiday home of a Liverpool family, and still has some of the family's furniture and possessions, from three generations. Come along to one of the house's Victorian days and find out for yourself what life was like 150 years ago. © Manx National Heritage
