Snap! Catch The Colour And Bag A Prize In This Photo Competition

February 02 2006

We've got a job for you!

All you've got to do is take a photo. It must be colourful and linked to science. Then you could win the Illuminate Competition, which is being run by the British Association for the Advancement of Science.

Here's how to enter.

Illuminate is a photo competition to celebrate National Science Week (March 10-19 2006).

Shows a circular coloured disc.

Shows a close up of snow.

Any camera will do for taking your photo - even a mobile phone camera.

Stuck for something to photograph? Just think about the science all around you.

Snow (in the photo on the left), food, water, sky, space, plants, metals, chemicals, materials - they all have a colour for you to capture.

So don't sit around looking at the grey skies and wintry weather. Get out and take a photo of it instead! The competition is open to everyone and winning entries will be put on display as part of National Science Week celebrations.

If you miss the competition deadline, don't worry. We'd love to see your photos, so please send them to us instead.

If you want to find out more about colour, why not visit the Eye for Colour exhibition at the World Museum Liverpool from February 18 to August 27 2006?

You can start your visit by swivelling the giant eyeball to find out how we see.

Shows a bullseye photo effect over the sky.

Shows an explosion of colour.

Then move on to look through the eyes of a bee or a fish! Don't forget to let us know what that's like.

You can enter the Mood Room to find out how different colours affect you. And why not end with a visit to the café - how do you feel about blue sausages?!
