Show Me's Brand New Topic Page: The Big Draw!

August 19 2005

Here at Show Me we're very excited - we've got a BRAND NEW topic page. It's all about drawing, and we LOVE drawing.

Shows part of the topics list on the Show Me website, with boxes labelled 'Teachers' and 'About Us' and one containing a Big Draw logo - black line drawing of a boy and a girl holding up pencils, on an orange background, under the words 'The Big Draw'.

If you look on Show Me's topics list (on the left of your screen) you'll see a new arrival - The Big Draw page.

You can find out more about the Big Draw here.

The Big Draw page is full of drawing games and makes for you to have a go at, including some fab new drawing games which haven't been shown on Show Me before.

Learning About Landscapes, from Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, tells you all about the special tricks artists use when they're drawing the world around them.

For budding cartoonists, there's Tintin And Cartoon Art, from the National Maritime Museum.

It's full of Tintin facts, stories and games, plus lots of cartooning tips and ideas.

The Zoom Room, from Tate, is full of arty ideas for drawing, painting and making to try out at home.

We'll be adding new stuff to the page all the time, so keep your eyes peeled!

Some of the new games are from ArtisanCam's great new KidZone site, where creative kids are invited to get their virtual hands dirty.

You can do drawing or painting with a famous artist like Canaletto or Constable, try your hand at slip decoration on ceramics or do some Art On Location - large-scale drawing in the destination of your choice.

Keith Alexander, Creative Director of ArtisanCam, explains:

"We wanted to create a site that was fun for kids to use so they could try different things and learn new skills. Art can be a messy affair... children can splash their virtual paint around without causing headaches for mum and dad!"

The Show Me team would like to say a HUGE thank you to our friends at The Campaign for Drawing, Access Art and ArtisanCam for all their help.

We hope you'll be inspired by all the new games and activities on the new Big Draw page - and don't forget, we love to see your artwork, so do Get In Touch and show us what you've been up to.

Happy drawing!
