National Insect Week 2010: bug games and more

June 10 2010

Amazing fact: there are over 24,000 species of insects in the UK alone.

National Insect Week, June 21-27, 2010, is all about celebrating our creepy crawly friends.

But why? Because insects help entire ecosystems (plants and animals) to survive.

On the National Insect Week website you can find out lots of fab insect facts.

Did you know...Painted Lady butterflies fly each year from North Africa to the UK?

Did you know...honeybees waggle their bottoms to communicate to each other about the best way to get to some really good nectar flowers?

Bug games to play online
We love Spotted Pacman from the Woodland Trust. Watch out for those pesky ants who are out to get you though! There are more games on the Woodland Trust website.

Plus play more insect games on Show Me.

Tell your teacher!
Let your school know about National Insect Week - so you can do fun insect stuff including making a bug hotel. Tell your teacher to click on this link for more info.
