Big Ben is 150 years old in 2009. Happy Birthday Big Ben!

Big Ben is what people think of as the Clock Tower next to the Houses of Parliament in London.

Some Big Ben Facts


Most people think that Big Ben is the tower, the clock and the bell but the name was first given to the Great Bell.

The Clock Tower was completed in 1859, the Great Clock started on May 31 1859 and the Great Bell's chimes were heard for the first time on July 11 1859.
