Do You Reckon You Could Write A Viking Saga?

Vikings were great explorers and storytellers. They voyaged in their ships to many overseas lands, exploring and often settling in new and strange countries - including ours!

This Viking warrior looks as if he has a tale or two to tell.

The Vikings used to tell long adventure stories called sagas. Remember, we're talking about people who lived many, many years before televisions and computers were invented, so sagas would have been a great way of entertaining each other.

Do you think you could write a Viking saga? An exciting story of adventure, battle or love perhaps?

The Young Archaeologists Club ran a competition to find the Young Archaeologists of the Year 2003. The task for club members was - you guessed it - to write a Viking saga.

Click here to read our news story about the winners.

Don't worry that you've missed the competition - we would love to read YOUR Viking saga too. So, have a go at our Viking games to find out more about the Vikings and get writing.

Here is the address to send your stories to.
