Exploring Drawing: Exciting Ideas For You To TryOctober 04 2008

The Show Me team and our friends at The Big Draw think drawing is FANTASTIC. Why do we all get so excited about it? Well, drawing isn't just about using a pencil on a sheet of paper - there are a million and one things you can draw with and draw on, and a squillion things you can draw!
Drawing helps you look at things, to explore and investigate, to think about ideas, to experiment and invent stuff. Drawing can be a picture, a plan, a design, a cartoon, a storyboard or a game. It can be just for yourself, or you can show your drawings to other people.
You can draw with all sorts of materials - paper, pencils, crayons and felt tip pens, of course, but also charcoal, chalk, ink, water - anything that will make marks.
You can make small drawings of things seen through a magnifying glass or giant size drawings in the sand on the beach or using skateboards.

Can you draw without moving your hands? How about inventing a drawing machine so you can draw using other parts of your body?
To get you in the mood for drawing we've chosen our favourite online drawing games and workshops for our Show Me... The Big Draw topic page.

Everything on the page is about drawing.... you can have a go at sketching or painting a landscape, learn about animation and storyboards, try drawing with virtual charcoal... plus lots, lots more.
We'll keep on adding more features, games and drawing downloads, so make sure you keep coming back.
A BIG THANK YOU goes to our friends at Artisancam and AccessArt for letting us link to their great drawing websites.

Lastly, you know we love seeing your drawings. So, if you'd like to send your pictures in to us we'll start a Big Draw section in Show And Tell and publish as many as we can.
Happy drawing!
