Wonderful Worms Poetry Competition

March 25 2009

It's Worm Week this week and here's a great competition for you from Buglife - and it's all about worms…

Write a poem about our wriggly friends and you could win a wormery or insect observatory!

Worms are important because they make the soil good for growing things in and they are good food for other creatures such as birds and hedgehogs.

Try and get some of that in your poem if you can.

Author Julia Donaldson, who wrote The Gruffalo, is going to judge the Wonderful Worms Poetry Competition.

If you'd like some more ideas to get you started, here's a great Show Me worm story.

When you've written your worm poem and drawn a great picture to go with it, take it into school and show it to your teacher because your school has to send it off.

Now if your school has more than one entry, they will have to choose which one to send in.

Closing date is April 30 2009.

Good luck and please get in touch and let us know if you win!

And if you fancy getting worm crafty, Buglife has some fab make and do activities.

We love the earthworms made out of tights! They're awesome.

You might prefer the worm hat or mobile though…
