About

Join this group of Year 7 students on their VIP tour around the Seven Stories Archive. The students look closely at the notes and stories written by Robert Westall, award winning author of The Machine Gunners.

Learn all about how stories make their transition from the author’s notes to the written books in this short video.

After watching, why not try making your own children’s book with this Picture book maker.

Teacher notes

This video is great for teaching children all about the process of how books are made. The video takes a closer look at the development of one author before moving to the museum to show how other stories have been adapted into films.

This resource is also great for introducing students to the idea of an archive and the possibility of their writing being stored for future generations to read.

Our partners at Culture Street have put together a range of resources which relate the video to KS3 English.

The video is just over 5 minutes long.
