SCREENREADER USER

Read this page if you use a screenreading program like Jaws or WindowEyes

or Skip to Navigation

Find links here to global garden games for you to play and word pictures for you to listen to.

Before You Start: To use this site, make sure you get your parent or carer to switch on Flash on your screenreader, an option in JAWS. This may be turned off, as Flash usually crashes systems.

The options on each screen are labelled, so you can choose from navigation, main content and more navigation links and skip between them. Remember to refresh your screen when selecting options.

When selecting facts in each garden, ensure your screen reader is focusing on the beginning of the fact, not the end.

Some of the animations in the gardens might take a short time to load. If this happens, and you don't hear any audio, please wait for them to load before selecting any other keys.

Use short cuts to help you navigate the site more quickly. So, for instance, use the F key to jump around button or form elements.

Thanks for reading these notes.

We do our best to make the game work as well as we can with screenreaders, so if you have trouble, let us know by emailing us at screenreader@24hourmuseum.org.uk and we will try to make changes.

Testing The Site

We have tested this site using JAWS 4.51 and 5, Window Eyes 4.2 and 4.5. There are many other screenreading programs. We would be very grateful if you could let us know if you have problems using other software.

If you have custom settings for screen readers on your machine, these may affect your use
of the game, so try the default settings, and do let us know! Please send your
screen reader feedback to: screenreader@24hourmuseum.org.uk
