- Explore an authentic Victorian Army Keep this February Half Term. March through the historic gates of Bodmin Keep, discover the Cold-War era military police cell and impressive armoury. Try your hand at one of our fantastic family activities, taking place daily: * Arts and crafts fun make & take sessions * Military dressing up * Our fun trail and quiz * Become a ‘Young Curator’ * The chance to play the bugle and drum! Plus special half term activities on selected dates – Sunday 11th: To kick start February Half Term, the Living History group The 32nd Cornwall Regiment of Foot 1808-1815 will be making an appearance for their Drill Practice Day, taking place at Bodmin Keep on Sunday the 11th February. There will be marching and drill displays at 12:00 and 14:00. (Please note, during the Drill Practice Days parking may be limited, and there may be loud noises, which dog owners or families with small children may wish to consider before planning their visit.) Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th, 10:30 am – 3:00 pm: Fun camouflage face painting and make and take craft sessions. Make your own military dog tag to take home! Weekdays, Monday 12th – Friday 16th: There will be special Gun Handling Sessions at 11am and 2pm each day from Monday 12th – Friday 16th February. These are an excellent opportunity for children and adults alike to get hands on with the collection and learn about the historic weaponry used throughout hundreds of years of battle, and the innovations and pitfalls of firearms throughout the ages. Discover one of the finest collections of weaponry in the South West and get up close and personal with the museum’s impressive armoury inside ‘The Keep’, the former barracks of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry Regiment. Half Term Gun handling sessions will take place during weekdays only. Visit our second hand book room and refreshment area. Dogs are welcome throughout the museum. We have free parking at the rear of the museum, and overflow parking nearby at the pay and display.
